Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find some of the most frequently asked questions I receive.

What’s the best age to get ears pierced?

  • I offer safe, hygienic piercings starting at 6 months old, once your baby has received their 2 rounds of vaccines. This age is ideal because infants are less likely to touch or pull on their ears, and healing is typically smooth.

  • The least recommended age for piercing is between 1 and 3 years old. Toddlers are often very active, curious, and sensitive to discomfort, which can lead to increased risk of infection or trauma to the piercing site.  It is also very hard for toddlers to stay still, especially if nervous.  I always say, you know your child best.

  • I will happily pierce children, teens, and adults of all ages—each appointment is tailored to your comfort and developmental stage.

How do I care for my piercing afterward?

  • Wash hands with anti-bacterial soap before touching piercing

  • Wash your piercing with unscented soap and water 1-2x a day

  • Supplementary cleaning is done with aftercare wipes or spray/Q-tips

  • Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide

  • Avoid touching or twisting earrings.

  • Keep hair, hats, and dirty hands away from the ears.

  • Do not remove earrings for at least 6 weeks for earlobe piercings.

  • Avoid swimming in lakes, pools, or hot tubs for at least 2 weeks.

You will receive detailed written instructions after your appointment

How long does healing take?

  • Earlobe piercings typically heal within 6–8 weeks.

  • Cartilage piercings may take 3–6 months or longer depending on your body and care routine.

  • It takes up to a year before the holes are completely healed so make sure to always wear earrings.  Otherwise the hole can shrink or close

Do you pierce with a needle or a gun?

  • I use the Blomdahl piercing system, everything is medical grade. I carry six different earring options, either medical grade titanium or medical grade plastic. The earrings come in sterilized cartridges that get loaded onto the piercing device.
